La Tijera K-8 School has developed a written Title I parental involvement policy with input from Title I parents. Parent needs assessments were used to collectively develop, plan, and implement parental involvement activities that will be offered throughout the school year. In addition, parent involvement groups such as School Site Council, ELAC and PTA were given opportunities to offer suggestions and be involved in the development of the plan. They played an instrumental role in identifying parent needs and offered suggestions to increase parent involvement The policy is distributed to parents of Title I students during the Title I annual meeting, our monthly SSC meeting, at ELAC meetings, and upon request. The policy describes the means for carrying out the following Title I parental involvement requirements [20 USC 6318 Section 1118(a)-(f) inclusive].
